Rick strongly believes that managing risk is the most important part of portfolio management. It’s a philosophy that has been reflected in his investment approach ever since he acquired his securities license in 1978. His ongoing mission is to help his clients define and pursue their goals without assuming any more market risk than necessary.

Rick is a Certified Financial Planner professional and has more than 40 years of experience in the financial services industry. Before joining our team in 2005, Rick was a first vice president with Raymond James. He began his career at Merrill Lynch in 1977. Earlier in his life, Rick served as a U.S. Army drill sergeant.

Rick is a member of Chapelwood United Methodist Church and the Rotary Club of Houston, where he served as chairman of the Lombardi Award (for college football lineman or linebacker of the year) and chairman of the Smith Award (for college baseball player of the year). He was a part owner of the Houston Rockets from 1982 to 1994 and served on the Rockets Board of Directors. He is also a board member of Sentinels of Texas, an organization supporting wounded soldiers.

Rick has lived in Houston since the eighth grade and resides here today with his wife, Marilyne. They have two daughters, Kellye and Sara, and five grandchildren. In his free time, he enjoys scuba diving, hunting and fishing.
