Cheri Payne
Cheri Payne, AIF® Director - Client Relationships, The Noble Group - Retirement Division Financial Advisor, RJFS

Cheri is often called “the 401(k) lady” by the retirement plan sponsors and participants she serves. She works with employers to help ensure their 401(k) plan is compliant and they have a robust investment lineup in place.

She also works directly with their employees to assist them in their financial planning decisions, even those beyond retirement planning. Her ultimate goal would be for all her 401(k) clients to have 100% employee participation.

To this end, Cheri makes herself available to them even in the evening and on weekends. “I’ve been known to hike to the bottom of a volcano in Nicaragua to get an internet connection or climb out of my tree house in the jungle of Belize just to help a participant with their 401(k) account,” said Cheri.

Her organizational skills and time management enable Cheri to effectively manage 401(k) plans and assist their employees striving for retirement readiness.

Cheri is an Accredited Investment Fiduciary®. She holds the Fellow Life Management Institute professional designation and Series 7, 24, 63 and 65 licenses, as well as group life and health licenses.

Cheri earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Iowa. She is a member of the Houston Hawkeye Alumni Group and has served as a mentor for the school’s Tippie College of Business.

Active in community organizations, Cheri has served Big Brothers Big Sisters of America since 1994. She is a volunteer with the Houston Humane Society, and a member, past charities director and webmaster of the San Jacinto Corvette Club. She also volunteered at the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials in 2012.

In her free time, Cheri enjoys traveling, practicing yoga, running with her dog and doing anything outdoors. She has completed 39 marathons (26.2 miles), including two Boston Marathons as well as two ultramarathons (50 miles).

She is also a self-proclaimed adrenaline junkie who enjoys activities such as sky diving, volcano surfing, volcano hiking, rappelling, paragliding and swimming with sharks. She recently climbed to the summit of the third-highest peak in Central America, Acatenango volcano in Guatemala, and spent the night sleeping on the side of this active volcano.

Cheri is originally from Waterloo, Iowa, and lives in Missouri City, Texas, with her husband, Charlie, and their dog, Chuckie.
